Mr. Randy Resnick is a distinguished cybersecurity executive serving as the Senior Advisor and Director of the Zero Trust Portfolio Management Office within the Department of War’s CIO Office. He is charged with executing the critical, department-wide mandate to operationalize a Zero Trust architecture—a foundational strategic realignment for the DoW to ensure the survivability and integrity of DoW data while under direct cyber-attack.
Recognized as the seminal thought leader behind the Department's Zero Trust framework, Mr. Resnick’s technical leadership led to the creation of the enterprise's most indispensable artifacts. He authored the original DoW Zero Trust Strategy and pioneered the development of the first-ever DoW and National Security System Zero Trust Reference Architectures. He also established the inaugural Zero Trust Maturity Model, the official outcomes-based standard for validating progress across the enterprise. To accelerate the fielding of secure technology, he spearheaded the creation of Zero Trust Innovation Labs and chartered expert "Purple Teams" to conduct DoW’s first-ever ZT independent assessments. This established a critical validation ecosystem within the DoW, ensuring all new ZT solutions are de-risked and hardened before enterprise deployment.
With over 38 years of experience, Mr. Resnick possesses a rare blend of national-level strategic vision and deep, tactical expertise. His career has been defined by transforming abstract strategy into implemented mission-critical security architectures. He excels at making strategy operational. Prior to his current role, he held key leadership positions at the National Security Agency (NSA), where he formulated their initial Zero Trust strategy and served as Chief of Information Assurance Engineering. Early in his career, he was selected as the first Chief of the NSA Red Team, a role in which he commanded the nation's elite offensive cyber operations team for defensive purposes.
Mr. Resnick holds a Master of Science in Engineering Management from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
